COLORADO– KREX now has the unofficial results from the state-wide elections Tuesday.
Two statewide ballot questions were included this year, with one looking to protect the future of our water, and another asking voters to forego tax refunds for education and transportation costs.
Proposition DD asks voters to legalize sports betting in Colorado. A 10% tax on bets would fund 29 million dollars annually for state water conservation. This would include developing a new reservoir in Moffat County.
At last count, the “yes” votes were just edging over the “no”s with 50.36% in favor of sports betting. About 10,000 more people voted for the measure than against.
Proposition CC focuses on statewide school and road projects. It asks voters to forego tabor refunds to allow funding for state public schools, higher education, roads, and bridges. Each year, an audit will be completed to show how the revenues are spent.
With almost 56% of the vote, voters are clearly saying they want their tax refunds. The “no” vote beat out those in favor with over 700,000 vetoing the measure.
