GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — As COVID-19 and its variants continue to spread, the state of Colorado recommends upgrading your cloth masks to medical-grade masks, such as surgical masks or KN95. There are multiple Mesa County locations where KN95 masks are free, including the Grand Junction Fire Department administration building located at 625 Ute Avenue.
The Grand Junction Fire Department (GJFD) has received a limited number of free surgical and KN95 masks provided by the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
A statement from the GJFD reads, “This is part of an ongoing effort by the state to provide high quality personal protective equipment to Coloradans who might be especially at risk during the pandemic and future public health emergencies.”
The limited quantity of masks is only available for pick-up at the GJFD administration building on Ute Avenue from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. All other GJFD locations do not have masks.
Masks will be available while supplies last, and GJFD has a limit of five masks per person.
