GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The performing arts remain a staple in our community. This weekend, one local dance studio is celebrating four decades with the Western Slope.

Dance Works is a locally owned and family run business in Grand Junction. Owner Kathryn Schulte says she began this dance studio 40 years ago after having a health scare. She realized that life is short and it is important to take action today since tomorrow isn’t guaranteed. Kathryn also began the studio to give her daughters a place to dance.

Once her daughters grew up, Kathryn’s children joined the staff and continue to teach classes at Dance Works today. This weekend, the dance studio is inviting the community that has supported it for so long to come celebrate this major benchmark. The performance will include dances from many genres including ballet, tap, hip hop, jazz and lyrical.

The 40th Annual Dance Works Concert kicked off on Friday at 7pm. If you would like to attend, another performance will happen at Palisade High School on Saturday at 2pm. For more information on tickets go to Dance Works’ website.
