GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — On Tuesday, November 16th, Mutual Aid Partners (MAP) will once again partner with The Street Dog Coalition to provide free pet vaccinations and exams during the weekly Mutual Aid Food Distribution & Resource Day is held in the parking lot of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation from 11 AM-1 PM.

Roice-Hurst Humane Society’s Animal Resource Center coordinator will be present at the clinic to connect people and their pets with additional supplies and support through Roice-Hurst’s programs, and Western Colorado Community College veterinary technology students assist with exams.

“This clinic wouldn’t be possible without the collaboration between Street Dog Coalition, Mutual Aid Partners, Roice-Hurst Humane Society, and Western Colorado Community College,” says Dr. Cathlin Craver, team lead for The Street Dog Coalition in Grand Junction. Dr. Craver will be performing the services at the clinic. “Pet health and human health are undeniably linked. We hope that by offering pet services among an assembly of human service groups, those who come to us to care for their pets also access care for themselves.”

The Street Dog Coalition (SDC) is a national organization that provides free veterinary and pet-related services to pets of people experiencing or at risk of homelessness in more than 50 cities across the United States. Using a One Health approach to street medicine, SDC cares for the lives on both ends of the leash. In Grand Junction, SDC has provided free services to 63 dogs and 4 cats in collaboration with MAP since March of this year.

Born from an immediate need to support the community during the 2020 pandemic, Mutual Aid Partners is a grassroots-based nonprofit focused on advocacy and assistance with volunteers and coordination efforts
through education and accessibility to social service agencies and community partners. The Distribution Day
takes place every Tuesday from 10 AM until 1 PM at 536 Ouray Avenue. In addition to resources for humans
