Mesa County Libraries add “Hoopla” to online services

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — There’s a new section at Mesa County Libraries that’s worth a bookmark. Hoopla’s streaming service is now available where cardholders have more variety to check out.

“Hoopla offers over 950 thousand titles in the form of e-books, e-audio books, e-comics,” Bob Kretschman informs, “There’s music, there’s movies, all with your library card at no charge.”

This new platform is an addition to the library’s existing services like Libby, Overdrive, and Kanopy. Hoopla complements these three services, making content more accessible.

Employees find this benefit long overdue, saying this program’s highlights in serving more people faster.

“If eight people wanna access a title at a time, eight people will access that title at a time so you don’t have to wait times or holds with Hoopla,” Rose Marie Binger elaborates, “So being able to utilize the two together could really expand your library experience.”

Content on Hoopla can be streamed from any compatible computer or mobile device by downloading its app. This includes Apple TV, Fire tv, Chromecast, and ROKU.

You can sign up directly at the Mesa County Library website.

The majority of Hoopla’s movie and television content can’t be found on competing streaming services, so the offerings are unique.
