GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The Grand Junction Police Department has arrested a man for attempted murder following an apparent stabbing at Whitman Park.
In the evening hours of August 15, GJPD officers responded to reports of a stabbing at Whitman Park. Officers arrived at the scene and transported a victim with suspected serious bodily injuries to the hospital.
Officers arrested 42-year-old Anthony Martinez near the crime scene and booked I’m in the Mesa County Detention Facility on the following charges:
- 2nd degree attempted murder
- 1st degree assault
- 2nd degree assault
The GJPD believes this to be an isolated incident with no further threat to the community. This is an active police investigation with no further information available to the community.
