GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Law enforcement is investigating a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened this morning in Craig, Colorado.

Craig Police Department officers and Moffat County Sheriff deputies attempted to make content with a wanted man at around 9 a.m. around 337 West Victory Way. The suspect pulled out a firearm and fled when officers approached him.

Officers then fired at and hit the suspect who was pronounced dead at the hospital later.

Per CPD’s policy, one CPD officer will remain on administrative leave for the entirety of the investigation. The 14th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team will be leading the investigation.
