GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Two brothers are in prison following a midnight altercation on Main Street in Grand Junction.

Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a man threatening a dog with a knife just after midnight on Monday. The 911 caller said two intoxicated men approached him and asked if he had any cigarettes or alcohol. The man said no, prompting one of the allegedly drunken brothers to pull a knife on the reporting party’s dog.

Officers contacted the two brothers a short time later and took them into custody.

31-year-old Cody Yazzie was charged with the following:

  • Felony menacing
  • Intimidating a witness or victim
  • 3rd degree assault
  • Obstructing a peace officer
  • Resisting arrest

31-year-old Cory Yazzie was charged with the following:

  • Resisting arrest
  • Obstructing a peace officer

The GJPD believes this to be an isolated incident with no further threat to the public. No further information is available at this time.
