GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — Grand Junction Police Officers arrested a man on kidnapping and other charges this Wednesday afternoon.
Just before 1 p.m., a witness called 911 reporting a man dragging a woman out of her car and into his truck before driving off from the St. Mary’s Hospital parking lot. GJPD officers found the suspect’s vehicle at a hotel near F 1/2 and 24 Road shortly after. At around 1:35 p.m., GJPD officers contacted them in a hotel room and arrested 37-year-old Israel Rivera on the following charges:
- 2nd-degree kidnapping
- False imprisonment
- Obstructing telephone services
- Harassment
- Criminal mischief
Law enforcement believes this to be an isolated domestic disturbance between two acquainted parties with no ongoing threat to the community. This is an active police investigation with no further information available at this time.
