MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KREX) — Local officials are warning residents to beware of ongoing scam calls.

A fraudulent caller is telling people they are a Mesa County Sheriff’s Office Deputy and saying there is an active warrant for the person they are calling or a family member, according to the MCSO.

The MCSO is adament that law enforement or government agencies will never request you to purchase any type of pre-paid card, money order, digital currency, or anything similar to make a payment over the phone.

Scam calls could come from any number, but the sheriff’s office has some known phone numbers to avoid:
