Possible animal shelter neglect in Pueblo, CO

local news

PUEBLO, Colo. — Between 50 and 100 cats are impounded with the humane society Tuesday after being taken from a Colorado shelter because of possible animal neglect.

Officials say in the past week, four cats have died at the Steel City Alley Cats Coalition in Pueblo, while other animals have been very sick.

This morning, the cats were taken away by members of law enforcement who said the shelter failed three inspection reports for unsafe conditions, and not providing proper medical care.

Authorities say charges could be filed, but right now, officers are focusing on making sure the animals are well-treated.

The cats are currently staying at humane society branches in Pueblo and Colorado Springs.
