MONTROSE, Colo. (KREX) — The task of teaching and shaping young minds is a huge responsibility. That’s why we’re continuing to recognize the outstanding educators in our communities. This month’s Montrose County School District Golden Apple winner, Kyle Ayer, makes sure the kids in his classroom are ready to face the world and succeed.
The kids in Mr. Arye’s class were obviously eager and excited to be there, we asked him how he keeps the kids so engaged. He said “You change it up! You know, I’m honest with them. I tell them it’s not always easy and it’s not always fun, but I’m going to try my best. And just try to show them as many ways to do something as possible so that something makes sense to them. And, practice, practice, practice!”
Mr. Ayer is actually a Montrose native himself, and he strives to build solid relationships with his students, just like he had with his teachers growing up. He told us, “I got to work a few years back with my 5th grade teacher as my team partner here, so it’s just a really cool experience that I hope you build the relationships and can help them through some of the tough times and have some of the best times with them.”
Thank you Mr. Arye for your hard work and dedication as a 5th grade teacher, and congratulations for winning a Golden Apple Award.
