GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — There is a new busiest airport on the Western Slope.
Montrose Regional Airport flew over 460,000 passengers in 2022, a 20 percent increase from the year prior.
The airport continues to set itself up for success by actively updating facilities to better accomodate passengers, provide key airfield improvements for airlines, and increase safety by working towards a signalized intersection.
Roger Rash, Montrose County Comissioner
The Montrose airport departed 233,745 passengers and deplaned 229,395 passengers. In total, the airport served 463,140 passengers in 2022.
As of now, if you’re on a Southwest Airlines or Delta Airlines flight to or from the Western Slope, you’ll find yourself at the Montrose Regional Airport. No other airport on the western slope offers services from these airlines.
The 2022 increase is the direct result of our efforts to continue to provide quality air service through a varety of carriers. The new expansion will offer four additional ticket counters and we look forward to working with Colorado FLights Alliance to provide enchanced airline routes.”
Lloyd Arnold Montrose Regional Airport Director of Aviation
The airport is still in the process of completing a terminal expansion and remodel project, set to complete in the fall of 2023.
