Don’t forget about your animals. Especially with this cold weather.
During this past subzero weekend, Denver Animal Protection responded to a record number of calls reporting pets left outside in dangerous conditions.
This past weekend was the busiest winter weekend Officer Jenna Humphreys has ever experienced, with more than 7 years on the job.
Between Friday and Sunday, officers responded to 101 animal welfare investigations. 62 of those 101 calls were specifically for dogs left out in the elements. And 3 calls reported animals in cars.
Penalties for some extreme cases can include a $999 fine and a year in jail.
