The holiday’s can be a stressful time for anyone battling a substance abuse problem. There are expectations of family, friends and being able to attend parties that might have alcohol. You can’t expect the rest of the world to change because of your addiction, so preparing yourself for any scenario during the holidays can be the best course of action.

Specialists say, creating a plan before you end up in a situation that tests your sobriety can make the difference. This can be an “escape plan” or a support buddy who knows what you’re dealing with.
