GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – Bustang ridership has been successful since its arrival at the Downtown transfer station according to CDOT, with the West Line transporting almost one thousand passengers every week.

The new routes are set for daily round-trips for passengers in Telluride, Durango, and even the I-70 corridor to and from the Grand Junction Regional Airport.

While there is no set date for new bus routes to begin, a CDOT spokesperson says the pieces are in place for the new Bustang service.

“We hope to have these routes up as soon as possible,” CDOT Bus Operations Manager Kyle French shares, “We actually already have our operators selected; we have the vehicles ready to go, we’re just finishing up the last few steps that we need to actually lease the vehicles to the operator.”

Bustang’s new routes will start service as soon as CDOT and the Grand Junction Regional Airport Authority Board sign the agreement. To expand and serve more in the Grand Junction community, Bustang’s Telluride route will also stop at St. Mary’s Hospital and the VA Medical Center.
