No. 1 Colorado Mesa won its sixth straight RMAC Tournament Championship on Saturday beating Colorado Mines 13-2 at home.
The Mavericks went undefeated in the conference tournament to earn another trip to the NCAA Regional Tournament.
Senior pitcher A.J. Landis got the start on the mound and did wonders. He picked up his sixth win of the year as he only gave up two runs in the first three innings out of the six he threw, and struck out eight.
He had plenty of run support early on as the Mavs scored four runs in the second inning thanks to a 3-run homerun courtesy of senior Josh Shapiro.
The Salt Lake City native ended the day 3-4, with six RBI, and a double away from hitting the cycle.
He was named to the RMAC All-Tournament team along with senior Hunter Douglas, junior Trevin Reynolds, and senior Will Dixon. Sophomore catcher Spencer Bramwell was named the tournament most valuable player.
After the dominating performance the Mavericks are heading back to the NCAA Tournament, but they have to wait and see if they will host the regional starting Thursday, May 16.
