ORCHARD MESA– Second-grade students at Chatfield Elementary School harvested 2,700 pounds of produce for local food banks, all in the pursuit of overall health.
On the menu, is butternut squash, which is heading to the Foodbank of the Rockies, and tomatoes that will be included in the school’s cafeteria salad bar.
This massive harvest is more than just giving back to the community and school, it is part of a plan to help students learn about health, through problem-solving.
