Chipola is Back and Looking for a Three-Peat

News

The defending back-to-back national champs are returning to the JUCO World Series. The Chipola Indians became Gulf District champions on Wednesday and are looking for their third straight junior college title.

The Indians have won three rings under Jeff Johnson (’07, ’17, ’18). They come to the 2019 Alpine Bank JUCO World Series with a (38-18) overall record and a team batting average of .299.

Everytime the Indians come to the Valley they pose a serious threat to winning it all, and if they were to win 2019, they would be the first team to win three straight titles in 32 years.

There have only been two teams in junior college history who pulled off the trifecta. Mesa Community College (1970-72) and San Jacinto College – North (1985-87).

Chipola plays its first JUCO game on Saturday, May 25 at 12:00 p.m. against the Southern District Champs.
