Coach Martin Leaves Program After Eight Seasons

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –

CMU announced Thursday the university’s athletics department and head football coach Russ Martin have agreed to part ways. Martin finished his tenure at CMU with a 56-33 overall record, three RMAC Championships, and an NCAA Playoff appearance in 2016. Coach Martin was the 18th head coach in program history. Included in the university’s statement, was a quote from the former head coach, “I want to thank President Foster and the administration for the opportunity to serve as the head football coach at Colorado Mesa.” He continued,”I believe we have built something special here and that great days lie ahead for the program.” CMU say they will begin a search for the program’s next head coach immediately.
