WCU Beat CMU With Late Field Goal 30-28

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –

CMU hoped to bounce back after an OT loss to ENMU last Saturday. Unfortunately for the Mavs, heartbreak struck again this week against the Mountaineers of Western Colorado University.

Like last week, it was a relatively low scoring affair going into the locker rooms at the halftime. The first half saw both teams only reach the end zone once. The First TD went to WCU after hitting a long pass to Zach Manchester. In the second quarter CMU answered with a one yard rush from Isaac Maestas to tie the game.

Unlike last week, the game ended in regulation. On the last snap, and down by one, WCU’s Chandler Davis hit a 29 yard field goal to win the game 30-28. A complete look at Saturday’s stats can be found here.

Saturday night’s loss is the Mav’s first RMAC loss this season. CMU look to bounce back on the road next weekend at Chadron State College.
