GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. (KREX) — CMU kicked off its nineteenth annual ‘holocaust awareness series’ this week with a ‘field of flags’ tribute. The flags were planted to highlight the various groups targeted by the nazi regime. The week-long event highlights different genocidal issues, and serves as a reminder to the community to speak up against cruel acts in the world. Some Mavericks believe it’s an educational reminder.

“It’s become a prime example of what happens when you allow injustice to go unanswered and go unchecked. It just kind of maintain that role in our society as something we can sort of base off of and learn to be better,” CMU student, Jordan Quan stated.

The learning at CMU continues this evening, as an associate professor of history discusses steven spielberg’s timeless movie, “Schindler’s List”.
