GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. –
After sweeping New Mexico Highlands both the Lady Mavs and men’s team beat CSU-Pueblo at home Saturday night.
The Woman’s team topped the Thunderwolves 41-59. The Mavs were led once again by Daniella Turner who finished the night with 19 points. A great defensive effort for the Lady Mavs meant Pueblo only scored 4 points in the 2nd quarter. With Saturday’s win the Mavs extend its winning streak to 11, and remain undefeated in RMAC competition. And remain in the #1 spot in conference.
The Men’s team beat CSU-Pueblo 86-74. The new addition, Ethan Richardson, was the Mavs top scorer (21 points). The Mavs shot nearly 60% on 59 shots. It was a back-and-forth game until about mid-way through the second half. At one point CMU collected a 16 point lead. After both weekend’s wins the Mavs still find themselves tied for fourth place in the RMAC. But a crowded top, means CMU is only one game behind the three teams in first.
Both the Men’s and Women’s teams are hosting a pair of games next weekend. Friday Adams State men’s and women’s teams visit Brownson, followed by Fort Lewis college Saturday.
