GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-
Friday night was a very good night for both CMU basketball programs. Here in Grand Junction the Lady Mavs punched its ticket to the RMAC Championship Final for the second year in a row. The men’s team bid the Trail Blazers happy trails from the RMAC, crashing Dixie State’s hope to leave the conference on top.
The #1 seed, Lady Mavs, defeated the #4 seeded Colorado School Of Mines 59-47. A low scoring first half was rectified in the third. Kylyn Rigsby and Sophie Anderson both scored 10 in the period to help the Mavs outpace Mines 23-6. In the 4th, the Orediggers made a run of it. But a few key stops and some prime buckets from Daniella Turner sealed the Mavs win.
In St. George, The Mavericks topped Dixie State for the first time this season 86-79. The win means the Mavs also earned a trip to the RMAC title game. CMU was led by Jared Small who scored 22 points. Small was one of five Mavs to score double digits. The Mavs will meet Colorado School Of Mines in the final tomorrow at 7pm.
