GRAND JUNCTION Colo. –

Men’s Soccer:

After a tough 2-0 loss to open the season against ENMU, the Mavericks looked to get their season on track against the Newman Jets at Walker field. And they did just that with a 4-1 win.

A 2-1 halftime lead only grew. As Aaron Martinez and Alec Fronapfel opened their 2019 accounts, with goals in the second half. A red card against the Jets’ Enzo Nalis, didn’t help Newman’s cause either. the Mavericks peppered the goal taking 17 shots on the day.

Women’s Soccer:

The Mavericks kept the ball rolling on their perfect, albeit early, season. They beat Western Colorado University 2-1.

Taylor Jones scored her first goal of the season and first goal of the game on an assist from Sydney Hathaway. The second half saw a pair of goals one for the Mav’s Zoe Peterson. The other for Missa Webb of the Mountaineers. It was a long day for WCU’s Kaeyla Noble as the Mavericks took 20 shots with 11 of those on net.
