GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — The United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) has proposed to reintroduce the gray wolf in Colorado.

USFWS is accepting comments on the proposed rule through April 18, 2023. Comments can be submitted electronically here. Individuals who wish to submit a hard copy can mail their comments to Public Comments Processing, Attn: FWS-R6-ES-2022-0100, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Colorado is part of the gray wolf’s native range, but wolves were eradicated by the 1940s. Over the past decade, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) restored gray wolves in Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, and Arizona.
