COVID-19 Outbreak at Local Assisted Living Facility

News

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Residents of The Retreat at Harbor Cove Assisted Living Facility reached out to KREX 5 News with concerns over the rising number of COVID-19 cases at the facility.

The source stated that 30 residents allegedly have COVID-19 and that the virus has spread to residents of two other residences at the facility. The claimant continued, stating that some residents have died from the coronavirus, while others have been placed in quarantine.

When reached for comment, management at the facility declined to comment on the resident’s allegations saying they’re, “focused on taking care of patients.”

The Colorado Department of Public Health’s COVID-19 statistics confirms that 15 cases have been reported from The Retreat at Harbor Cove since November 3rd. The CDPH stats does not show any publicly recorded deaths at the facility, but health officials told KREX that, due to different metrics when publicly reporting deaths, all COVID-19 related deaths may not be reflected on their website.

KREX will continue to look into this story and will provide updates when they come available.
