GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) – Weekend book sales usually happen in the library’s storage room but this weekend sales will temporarily expand to a bigger room for their big blowout sale. This annual extravaganza has been a tradition for Friends of the Library for decades, with book genres appealing to all ages.

Proceeds for this year’s sale will go toward establishing a new location for the Clifton library branch, which is currently trying to find a much larger space. Organizers say the overall hope is to get as many books as possible into reader’s hands and homes.

“The goal for Friends of the Library is to disseminate books and get as many of these books out into the community as possible,” Longtime Friend of the Library Maggie Lopez shares, “The secondary goal is to raise ten thousand dollars.”

Prices for the 3-day sale range from 1 or 2 dollars a book (Thursday & Friday) to 5 dollars for a bag of books (Saturday). The public sale is happening at the First Congregational Church” on 5th Street from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday.
