GRAND JUNCTION, Colo – Grand Junction fire units respond to a structure fire on the 200 block of 28 Road in Grand Junction roughly before 2pm. The initial call from neighbors report flames started from fireworks where responders on scene find it not to be the case.
The house sustained some exterior damage but, according to fire officials, nothing more.
“Neighbor called in saying there was a house on fire. An update saying that some bystanders were trying to put out the fire,” Grand Junction Fire Captain Brandi Manuppella informs, “When we got here, they had pretty much done a good job of dousing it and then we just finished and dad and inside to make sure that nobody was home.”
Residents of the home arrived on scene briefly while our crew was still there but weren’t available to talk.
The homeowner’s next of kin share with us that the homeowner’s cat was rescued from the fire. At last update, they’re still looking for their dog.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
