Juvenile arrested in Latter-Day Saints Church arson case

FRUITA, Colo. —  With help from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, and the Lower Valley Fire Department, The Fruita Police Department has made an arrest in connection to the fire at the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Fruita.

A juvenile was taken into custody after being issued a no-bond arrest warrant. The identity of the juvenile has not been released.

In the early morning hours of April 26, 2021, the Fruita Police Department and the Lower Valley Fire District responded to a fire at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The destructive blaze burned through large sections of the church’s roof shortly before 3:30 that Monday morning.
