GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – Post frontal/storm exit mode will mean much cooler and calmer conditions for your Thursday!
The wind direction has shifted from the southwest to the north/northwest and that essentially chokes off the opportunity for most of the smoke (wildfires in Southern Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico) to infiltrate most of the Western Slope. Enjoy a clear day with limited clouds. That northerly flow will also usher in cooler temperatures for the next few days. Average high temperatures for GJ/Montrose are middle and upper 80s. High temperatures today for many locations will be below the middle 80s! Cooler 70s in the higher elevations along with calm and dry weather pattern for everyone.
Air Quality Alert is still in effect for areas south of Montrose County and the Four Corners region is under a Fire Weather Watch for dry and windy conditions. By this weekend, temperatures will be heating up just in time for the conclusion of spring and the beginning of summer.
