1 in Custody After Shooting Outside Grand Junction Liquor Store

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- A person is in custody after shooting at a vehicle near a Grand Junction liquor store.

At about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, officers with Grand Junction Police Department and deputies with the Mesa County Sherriff’s office responded to reports of a shooting outside Fruitvale Liquors in the 500 block of 30 Road.

According to a Mesa County Sherriff’s Office spokesperson, someone shot at a white Nissan Maxima in the liquor store parking lot. It is still unclear what lead to the shooting.

Northbound 30 Rd. from the intersection with the I-70 Business Loop was closed off while authorities searched the area.

Law enforcement quickly located a suspect in the shooting nearby and took them into custody.

The Mesa County Sherriff’s Office is currently looking for the owner of the Nissan Maxima that was shot at to check on the driver’s well being, and at this time there is no word on injuries. As of 9:40 p.m., MCSO confirmed no one in nearby hospitals was admitted with gunshot wounds. MCSO is asking anyone with information in this crime to call the sheriff’s office at (970) 242-6707
