GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-One of the oldest churches in Mesa County celebrated a big birthday this past weekend.
The First Congregational Church of Christ celebrated their 125th birthday on January 17th.
The church first came about on January 17th , 1890, and is started as a small canvas tent located on Main Street in Grand Junction.
Reverend Brenda Brown Lead the celebration on Sunday morning with mass concentrating on the birth of the church.
She also had a costume made for her to represent the very first female congregational minister who received her license back in 1883.
After mass, church members gathered for an ice cream social to honor the church and it’s long time standing.
Long time member of the church, Ruth Annis , expressed how proud she was to be a part of such a wonderful establishment.
They added how at home they feel when they walk into church.
