GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — UPDATE (10/29): The Mesa County Coroner’s Office has completed its examination regarding the death of Dale Tweedy, a 51-year-old male resident of Fruita, Colorado.

Mr. Tweedy was the male involved in the fatal rollover on Highway 50 in Whitewater, Colorado the morning of October 28, 2019. The cause of death is multiple blunt force injuries and the manner of death is an accident. He did not appear to be wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident and toxicology was negative.

(10/28): Many woke up to dangerously icy road conditions across the Grand Valley. One man has died after a crash on Highway 50 early Monday morning.

This crash is just one of over a dozen accidents the Colorado State Patrol responded to Monday morning in Mesa and Delta counties.

Traffic was diverted off I-70 onto the Cameo Exit early this morning after a rollover accident. One man was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. This was just one of 14 accidents CSP responded to between De Beque Canyon and on Highway 50.

We spoke with a CSP Officer who gave us more details on the crashes and the possible causes of the incidents.

Hopefully it’s not going to be common. We’d like for drivers to slow down. This is the start of the season where the roads will become slick. Especially in this fall area where we might get some rain that might later freeze. We will unfortuntaely start to see an increase in crashes.
