GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.-One Boulder family spent 2016 doing what they love and living life to the fullest and Sunday, they continued their lifestyle into the new year.
The Holcombe family consist of Peter, Kathy and their 12 year old daughter, Abby are taking life to a new level.
Sunday, they joined nearly 100 kayakers along the Shoshone River in Glenwood Springs for the annual New Years Day Kayak Trip.
Peter Holcombe has done this kayak trip for the past 10 years, and Sunday marks Kathy and Abby’s first time.
The Holcombe family spent the entirety of 2016 on the road in their Class C Winnebago, with the goal of visiting 40 of the 56 national parks.
They say that all too often families get caught up in the everyday tasks of life that take away from what they truly love.
“You can still go kayaking and rock climbing and mountain biking as a family,” says Kathy Holcombe.
“We call this mission Famagogo. So over the last couple of years I think we’ve been living proof that you can get out and do all these incredible things with kids, and that’s been a really neat thing on our journey,” adds Holcombe.
Their Famagogo mission is to inspire families to get outside and go on their own adventures.
The Holcombe family met their goal of visiting 40 national parks in 2016, traveling 100,000 miles and visiting 48 states.
In 2017, they will be kayaking the entire length of the Grand Canyon, which is 280 miles and will take 26 days.
