GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — In local politics, Abe Herman officially declared his candidacy for Grand Junction City Council District E. Herman says the central part of his platform is to protect the Grand Junction he loves, “That means protecting outdoor spaces, supporting local businesses, and keeping the city affordable.” Herman says he is also looking to support public schools and better public safety. Currently, the council member for District E is Kraig Andrews. But that isn’t stopping Herman from bursting into the local political scene.
“I really want to make sure we are looking at long term effects of what we are doing. I don’t want to see the kind of mismanagement of growth that we’ve had in other areas like the front range. I want to make sure we maintain the character of our community so I want to be apart of that.” Council members who are supporting Herman’s candidacy are Rick Taggart and Chuck McDaniel. Both are council members for the district at large.
