GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.- At Grand Junction Regional, there’s a new place for baggage claim. After some major turbulence, the airport is landing a new branch with Allegiant airlines.
To airport administration, that’s the sound of a long-time dream about to take off.
“Year-round service to the L.A. Basin has been a goal for this community for a long time, so it’s really exciting to get to watch it happen,” Angela Padalecki expresses, “In a time where we have a pandemic, and a lot of things get cancelled, it’s extra exciting to not just see it be announced but, now, to get to see the planes fly and folks get on. We’re all really excited.”
“Adding some variety to GJT, Allegiant flights take you to Mesa, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, and Orange County, CA,” Cora Dickey informs.
Grand Junction Regional Airport is now one of eight airports with direct flights to and from John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana. Grand Junction flyers are happy having this airline take out the layover in their travels to California.
“It’s just nice to be able to fly out of Grand Junction and not have to drive to Denver or Salt Lake, and fight the traffic and the weather,” Melodee Bergin shares, “and then, when you’re home, you’re home.”
“It changed my life because, usually, I’d have to drive out there; fly into Vegas then drive into California,” a male passenger describes, “This way, I got a direct flight straight into Santa Ana. My family lives right there so that’s a blessing.”
The nonstop route with Allegiant will operate twice weekly at GJT. To celebrate, the company is offering one-way fares on the new route as low as $54.
If you’re wanting to board on this offer, flight days, times and the lowest fares can be found only at allegiant.com.
