Amid coronavirus fears, a second wave of flu hits the U.S.

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The coronavirus is a large concern in other parts of the world right now. But experts are saying its a bad time right now for the extended flu season. The Centers for Disease Control is estimating that so far this season, there have been at least 26 million flu illnesses in the United States.

Here in Mesa County, the public health department is reporting 56 flu-related hospitalizations so far this season. A representative for MCPH says right now respiratory illnesses are on the rise and we are at low risk for coronavirus.
