The fact that Wednesday morning’s low temperatures will be 10 – 20 degrees colder than what we have experienced lately… portions of the Western Slope will be under a Freeze Warning April 7, 2021 until 9 am.
The culprit is our early April cold front that will have exited the state by midnight Tuesday (to the east). A clearing sky and a northerly breeze will allow temperatures to cool considerably behind this front. Freezing and sub-freezing temperatures are anticipated so please be mindful of pets left outside, sensitive plants and exposed pipes. This cold weather will be short lived because a high pressure system will build back in late Wednesday (still breezy) with clear conditions and temperatures slowly warming to slightly above the averages for this time of the year. Thursday will have an even warmer afternoon and the windy conditions will return with the possibility of Red Flag Warnings. This fire weather concern is leading another dry front that is expected before Friday. Temperatures maintain fairly consistent readings with mid 60s to mid 70s through the weekend with Red Flag Warnings possibly returning Sunday/Monday.
