GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — It’s the day local sports fans have been looking forward to for some time. The completion of the Suplizio Field and Stocker Stadium renovations was marked by a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday. Renovations include: replacement of the grandstands behind home plate and on the 3rd baseline, new LED lights, new west grandstands at Stocker Stadium, and new entrance pavilions with wider sidewalks with safty in mind. The project, that cost more than 10 million dollars, was completed through a partnership between the City of Grand Junction, the Junior College World Series (Grand Junction Baseball Committee), Colorado Mesa University, and Mesa County Valley School District 51. Best news is the ribbon cutting ceremony came in time for local graduation ceremonies and will give local HS baseball teams the chance to play on the new ground at least once before the season is over.
