BLM Working to Contan Low Gap Fire

MESA COUNTY, Colo. - The Bureau of Land Management is working to contain the Low Gap Fire that broke out Tuesday night behind the Book Cliffs west of De Beque.

Those with the BLM say the fire is burning between 5 and 10 acres, south of Winter Flats near the Low Gap entrance of the Wild Horse Range.

This area is populated by oak brush and pinyon-juniper.
Four single-engine air tankers are dropping retardant on the blaze and at around 8 pm ground crews were en route.

At this time no roadways are closed in the area.
