PALISADE, Colo. — UPDATE (11/15): On Wednesday afternoon, authorities used a helicopter to recover a body, which has now been identified by the coroner’s office as 47-year-old Harry Oxford of Palisade, Colorado.

ORIGINAL STORY (11/14): Authorities are investigating the discovery of a body in the book cliffs area in Grand Junction.

A spokesperson for the Mesa County Sheriff’s office says Wednesday’s discovery might be tied to a missing person case, being investigated by the Palisade Police Department.

The body of an adult male, along with a nearby vehicle, were found by searchers just east of Mount Garfield, several hundred feet down the front side of an embankment.

Authorities used a helicopter to recover the body on Wednesday afternoon.

Officials are working to confirm if the deceased man is the same person who was formally reported missing last Friday, after not having been heard from since Halloween.

An investigation is still underway, but the sheriff’s office says there are no obvious signs of foul play.
