GRAND JUNCTION, Colo - The Mesa County Coroner has identified the person found dead in a bathroom inside Confluence Hall at CMU Tuesday morning as 36-year-old Michael Dufresne.
It remains unclear as to why Dufresne was in the building, as he does not have any ties to the University and is not a permanent resident of Mesa County, but has been in the area for a few months.
The autopsy found no injuries to explain Dufresne's death, and the Coroner's Office is waiting on the results of a toxicology report before making a final determination on cause and manner of death.
Grand Junction Police responded to a call around 7:30 am on Tuesday of a body found in the building, which houses the school's engineering department. Classes in the building were canceled on Tuesday.
Police say Dufresne was found in a 3rd floor bathroom. A glass pane on a front entrance door to the building was found shattered, and police say that there was significant damage inside the building.
