Rifle, CO - The Cache Creek fire south of Rifle continues to grow, having doubled in size every day since it started on Saturday..
As of Wednesday evening, the fire has burned nearly 1000 acres, and is still 0% contained. More than 150 people are fighting the fire, aided by aerial support. Four cabins near a trailhead were evacuated earlier in the week.
Residents near the fire say they are keeping an eye on things, even though the fire is burning mainly on national forest land right now. One resident said that people living in the area are getting used to situations like this because there have been so many fires over the past few years.
This fire was started by a lightning strike.
