CAMEO, Colo. - After a long construction period, and hosting an important event, the Western Slope's newest shooting complex is now open for business. The complex is expected to be a big draw for the area, not only appealing to gun enthusiasts, but also bringing in much needed money to the local economy.
After months of preparation and one state championship, the Cameo Shooting and Education Complex is now open for business. Although the range hosted the IDPA Colorado Championship last month, the complex officially had its first public day today, opening a wide variety of ranges for the public to use.
Although the facility is planning two more phases of construction to include a greater diversity of ranges, they say the seven bays currently open were first on the list to be built. Cameo hopes to become a center for all types of sportsmen, and upholds safety above all else. In addition to the local benefits, the range is looking to attract out-of-towners, and bring some more business into Mesa County.
And the best part is that from now until November, you can shoot at the range for no additional cost, although donations are accepted. Cameo will be open to the public Wednesday through Sundays from 10am until one hour before sunset. There will be many sponsored events taking place there, so make sure to keep an eye out.
