A group of second grade students decided to give those who fought for our freedom the ultimate thank you.
Chatfield Elementary Students hosted a Veterans Day program to recognize those who’ve lost their lives fighting for our country and for their parents who’ve served.
The presentation included the Central High School U.S. Army JROTC Color Guard, the singing of the National Anthem and six songs presented by the students.
Second grade teacher Robyn Carmine says 50 students have been practicing since the beginning of the year to share their appreciation for veterans.
“The songs that they’ve worked so hard for, they’re really excited about a lot of the songs and they have some really great meaning behind the songs and the kids have written some things about thanking personal family members that are veterans,” said Carmine.
She adds this is the first Veterans Day presentation at the school and plans to continue in the following years.
