CLIFTON, Colo. — The future of the Clifton Fire District is in the hands of local residents. There is a special election Tuesday for a new board of fire district directors.
It’s the first election for these board positions in about 15 years, and its taking place at the Clifton Community Hall until 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The Clifton Fire Protection has three board seats open with 5 different candidates.
Those candidates are all community members, or local property owners.
“They submit a self-nomination form, and from that point, they are added to the ballot. They oversee financial obligations and responsibilities and provide the chief direction, so it’s very important we get involved in our communities, especially in times like this.” – Chief Charles Balke
The ballot polling center is sanitized periodically throughout the day with social distancing practices implemented.
