CMU COVID testing site is open to the public

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — With COVID-19 climbing in Mesa County, Colorado Mesa University is handing over its testing site to the community.

Over the past month, there has been an increased demand for a COVID-19 test. This has resulted in wait times for a test to be about 3 hours at the Mesa County Fairgrounds testing site. Therefore, CMU’s site should increase overall testing efficiency.

CMU decided to transition to online learning a week sooner than originally planned, so with students traveling home for Thanksgiving, the university’s COVID testing site can be used for the public.

You can register for a testing time slot online, and often, you can get your test the same day. CMU expanded its testing tent from two lanes to four drive-thru testing lanes. Thereby, the wait time for a nasal swab test is typically five minutes, and you will get your results in 24 to 48 hours.

This additional site comes just in time for the upcoming holiday, and CMU has partnered with COVID Check Colorado to remain open throughout the holiday season and into January.

The CMU testing site will be open to the public Monday – Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM.
