GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.-
It was all but given up on in sports departments across Colorado. With CHSSA pushing football back to spring, along with the PAC-12, Mountain West, and RMAC. It seemed fall football would be yet another casualty to the year that has taken so much from so many. But, on Labor Day (a day not known for producing important e-mails) the KREX sports department got an email from CMU I didn’t except to see.
CMU Football was to announce the team would play a schedule of four games THIS FALL! Three against RMAC opponents:
- Oct. 10 @ Noon VS Chadron State College
- Oct. 17 @ Noon @ Black Hills State University
- Oct. 24 @ Noon VS South Dakota Mines
And one game against Lone Star Conference’s West Texas A&M University. We’ll preview the games in the coming month, but it’s worth pointing out: The game against the Buffs might have a little extra mustard, with it being the first time CMU plays its former head coach (and now A&M OC) Russ Martin.
Coach Jackson says the push to play in the fall came largely from Senior leaders. And wouldn’t have worked if administrators weren’t on board. CMU is still hoping to add 2-3 more games to the schedule; but for now are happy to focus on the games it has on the docket.
