DENVER (AP) — A man from Colorado and another from Florida who are accused of assaulting police officers in separate incidents during the Jan. 6. riot at the U.S. Capitol are both being held in federal custody after their recent arrests. Twenty-six-year-old Mason Joel Courson of Tamarac, Florida, appeared in federal court in Florida on Wednesday. Federal prosecutors say he’s accused of being part of a group that assaulted a Metropolitan Police officer. His lawyer declined to comment. Meanwhile, 68-year-old Avery Carter MacCracken of Telluride, Colorado, is accused of punching a Metropolitan Police officer in the face. His public defender’s office is barred from commenting on cases.
